There is a cemetery in Florida called Shiloh that is hidden beyond a dirt road. Bordered by a worn gate with barely readable carved characters, it is in many places overgrown with Spanish moss, and prickly weeds. Many headstones are far back in the undergrowth, nearly obscured by time.
Shiloh seems to be a minor Mecca for local paranormal investigators. Observers have alleged witnessing eerie lights and sounds as well as the apparition of a young girl stalking among the tombs.
The Twilit Lens investigated the sight, and while we found no ghosts ourselves we did find a fascinatingly silent grave site where the relentless hands of nature and time war endlessly against the legacy of man.
The angel statue in the main photo was taken at ground level, freeholding the camera and with the lens’ image stabilization feature active (ISO 200, f/11, 1/250). It took a few attempts until I was satisfied with the result. Normally I use a tripod for these sorts of things, but I was after an increased challenge.
